Braces are dental appliances used to straighten teeth. They are used for people who do not have perfect teeth. This is not an immediate corrective process; teeth correct themselves over time. To get braces fixed on your teeth, you need to see a dentist.
Braces come in different types, but with the help of a dentist, you will get the right type of braces to match the dental structure of your teeth. The special dentist responsible for such operations is called an orthodontic dentist or an orthodontist.

Traditional braces

One of the types of braces is the traditional brace. As the name suggests, it is one of the oldest types of braces. Back when they were still in use, these braces were heavy in the mouth because they are made of stainless steel. Over time, these braces were made in a lighter weight and structure than they were in the old days. They have metal brackets which are fixed with a type of cement using arch wire.

Brackets put pressure on the teeth so that they can move to the right place over time. These arches use tiny elastic materials called ligatures. These ligatures are changed when the braces are tightened by the orthodontist. Some of these orthoses are self-ligating, that is, they do not use ligatures.

Ceramic straps

Ceramic rings work the same way as traditional rings, but unlike traditional rings which are made of stainless steel which are visible, ceramic spacers are made from transparent and translucent ceramic materials. These braces are less noticeable and are more common in adults who need orthodontic treatment. Sometimes people who wear them tend to find that some parts of the braces change color and cause marks on the teeth. You can use an anticavity fluoride mouthwash to protect against cavities.

Braces Damon

These braces are the most popular right now. This is because they are the gentlest on the teeth and require few visits to the orthodontist for maintenance. These braces are self-ligating and unlike traditional and ceramic braces that use elastics, Damon braces use a sliding mechanism to join the arches. These braces provide faster results because they move on their own and require little or no adjustment. They also don't cause much friction and pressure on the teeth. By not visiting the dentist often, it saves money.

Benefits of using braces

  1. If you have dental defects like protruding jaws, bumpy teeth or crooked teeth, braces will help to correct and straighten them.
  2. Braces will also help the gum to stay firm so that it can hold the teeth in their correct position.

Disadvantages of braces

  1. Braces tend to cause pain and discomfort for patients who wear them, especially during the process of installing braces on teeth.
  2. For people who are embarrassed by things like this, braces can be awkward for those people.

Manage your braces

For people who use braces or are considering getting one, you have to give special care and attention to your braces. Some food particles can get stuck between your pins, so it's best to get a special brush that can reach the corners of the pins.
You can also use pain medication to lessen the pain you feel during the initial installation of the pins.

Visiting your orthodontist is the safest step to take when you encounter problems that home remedies cannot solve.
